New Work

I've started a new series and am in the process of my first piece. I figured it would be interesting to see the process of a piece so I will be posting photos of several stages of the first piece - then all the other pieces within the series so that you can see the completion after experiencing a piece of it with me.

1. Layout: I placed the figure and some undertone colors

2. Depth: Additional layering of colors to give the figure more form and darken the overall piece - allowing for the underlying colors to come through to create depth.

3. Layering: At this stage I start layering texture when creating a mixed-media piece. I have added bubble wrap, corrugated cardboard, a thin paper material and a "fragile" label.

Poozer

In May of 2002 I created a cartoon character and strip to go along with him: Enjoy the chain below of Poozer and his experience entering the dorm environment by accident. Following this I used Poozer to be the character in a short story that I both wrote and illustrated (professionally edited, currently working on publication). Aside from this I have used Poozer in creating greeting/holiday cards for family. Below you will enjoy the original draft of Poozer (cover and cartoon strip) plus the cover of the short-story and the cards I've created for you to view:

Outside of the typical Holiday cards I use Poozer for Birthday cards as well:

c). Inside: "... you're still young at heart. Happy Birthday!"
